Ever wanted to own a piece of design history? Wanted to get your hands on a logo that resembled one of the world's most popular, powerful and inspiring brands? Well, now you can – if you have a spare $10 to $15K lying around the house.

The British auction house Bonhams as got their hands on a pair of Apple's original rainbow logos that were used at their Cupertino, CA headquarters. This logo design auction is rumoured to take place sometime in June.

About the Logos for Auction

The larger of the two logos is made from form and vinyl (the coloured stripes are vinyl on a foam base). The smaller version of the logo is fibreglass and has the same vinyl colour stripes attached.

You can see from the pictures that the logos are well loved with some wear and tear – but apparently this is going to stop logo bids hitting $10K at the auction.

Background on Apple's Logo Design

This original rainbow logo design was concept of Rob Janoff – Apple used the design from 1977 to 1998 – a damn long time for a logo to remain "current".
