It can be said that certain albums have cover art that become just as iconic as the top singles fans know by heart. From The Beatles’ Abbey Road to Pink Floyd’s Dark Side of the Moon to Michael Jackson's Thriller or the Bee Gees' Saturday Night Fever, iconic album covers are easily identifiable and define a timeless record.
Music, Design, Art
Musicians have long worked with graphic designers to produce beautifully designed album covers, posters, booklets and music logos. A favorite keepsake of the humble fan is a band's poster design ripped down at the end of a gig and thrust into a band member's hand to be autographed and thus immortalized for all time on your bedroom wall.
We have compiled a list of 33 stellar examples of memorable music festival posters from around the world and were impressed by the effort many festival organizers including Splendour in the Grass, Woodford Folk Festival and Falls Festival in Australia; Global Gathering in the UK; Lollapollozza in Chicago & the Governor's Ball in New York City have invested in graphic design and it's paid off.
DJs also take their image seriously with many getting a professional DJ logo design to build their brand and link creative assets such as albums, business cards, websites and posters. For example, here are logos of the world's highest paid DJs.
Check out the example designs below or perhaps try and make your own band, festival or music logo on BrandCrowd.
Iconic Albums Re-Imagined
Inspired by the intersection of music, design and culture and inspired by a shared nostalgia for album cover art, we invited designers from around the world to re-imagine iconic best-selling albums of all time in a cd cover art contest to crowdsource photoshopped album cover designs from our community. Using this list of best-selling albums of all time, over 50 designers submitted more than 80 re-imagined album cover designs. Congratulations to top DC designer, GusDesign who won first place for his version of U2's best-selling album, Pop.
